How Tumblr can benefit your Business

Certainly you have noticed that many websites have Tumblr included in their social media platforms. Maybe you are asking yourself how Tumblr can benefit your business. Here are some reasons why you may want to consider Tumblr for your business.

Firstly let us tell you what Tumblr is all about. Tumblr has been around since 2007 it is a social media platform and blogging site which has more than 132 millions blogs and is included in the top 15 websites in the United States.

Tumblr is different from many other social networking sites. Tumblr is a blogging site but definitely not the same as wordpress. In other words, the idea of posting relevant and frequent content on Tumblr is similar to that of traditional blogging, but it’s a much more visual, image-based platform than a typical corporate blog might be.

Just likeTwitter, Tumblr thrives on simplicity. It offers remarkably easy navigation, a multi-modal posting mechanism which supports text messages, email and even phone calls however there are differences between the two. Twitter only allows 140 characters but on Tumblr there is no limit so the user can freely say what they want to say. Tumblr also allows photos, videos and other media that makes Tumblr better than Twitter when it comes to blogging.

On Tumblr, links are dofollow by default. That means every time somebody reblogs one of your posts you get a dofollow link back to your Tumblr blog from theirs. If you linked to something external, not only would it get a link from your Tumblr, but when reblogged it would get links from other Tumblr blogs. Like Twitter if someone retweeted your tweet your username will appear on their post and reader can click on your username redirecting them to your Twitter profile.

The Tumblr users are in a younger demographic.  If you’re marketing to that younger crowd, this could be a great tool.  But even if you aren’t marketing to a younger crowd, you can utilize Tumblr in an effective way.  Especially if you have very nice and sharable, visually appealing content. Images and photos are the most popular content posted on Tumblr, making it a good fit for individual content creators in highly visual industries like design, photography. In those specialized niches, a Tumblr URL is a perfectly acceptable option, with none of the amateur stigma that has been associated with free Blogger and WordPress URLs in the past.

Sure you can use this as your sole website for your business, but we like to think of Tumblr as an extension of your brand identity.  The users are a little edgier, a little more tongue-in-cheek, a lot more visual, and therefore more likely to share things they find visually appealing on Tumblr.

We recommend adding Tumblr to your social media platforms.
